The Shreyas Ethos
Shreyas Foundation campus is a 28-acre green educational space in Ahmedabad that combines academics, culture, sports, and creativity in one environment. The campus includes modern learning facilities, museums, sports infrastructure, and open natural spaces designed for holistic student development. Inspired by value-based education, it provides a peaceful and engaging atmosphere that encourages learning beyond classrooms.
The Shreyas Foundation, based in Ahmedabad, India is the ‘International Village for Children and their Life-long Learning’ that fosters “One India” and “One World” values and experiences.
The Shreyas founders’ goal was to ‘Create an International Village for Children’ to emphasize a safe learning environment for children, and the foundation was set up with inspiration from Shri. Rabindranath Tagore, Mahatma Gandhi and Maria Montessori whose educational vision and philosophy strongly continue to influence the educational programs, activities and partnership collaborations.
The Shreyas Foundation’s lush green campus hosts the K-12 formal school, folk and children’s museums, multi-subject library, science laboratory, traditional and modern sports facilities, artisan fairs and workshops, multiple performing arts theatres including an Amphitheatre with capacity for sitting 5000 people, and the destitute children’s village - Balgram.
A Day at Shreyas
Shreyas Foundation, founded in 1947 by Leenaben Sarabhai, is an experimental school rooted in Indian values and global educational ideals. Inspired by Montessori, Gandhi, and Tagore, it promotes self-learning, creativity, and hands-on experiences. The academic approach nurtures holistic growth through freedom, dignity, and community connection.

At Shreyas Foundation, exploration is a way of life. The campus offers a unique blend of cultural, artistic, and physical experiences designed to nurture holistic growth. Our activities are open for public outside school hours.
From the aroma of traditional recipes prepared at Vatsala Cooking, to the quiet wisdom preserved in the library, each space is thoughtfully created. The museums reflect the heritage and everyday life of India, inviting learners to connect with the past through material culture.
Theatre spaces echo with stories, performances, and the creative spirit of students and artists. Open grounds encourage play, movement, and discipline through a variety of sports activities. Together, these experiences create a living, breathing environment of learning beyond textbooks.
